Note: I did not buy one of these products. I was intrigued by an add. As an Electrical Engineer, I did some math.
If anyone sees an error in my math, please point it out.
The description here claims “Portable 500mAh Lithium-ion battery for portable devices”.
Duracell’s site indicates 2000mH [...]
For those for which it is not obvious, it means that it holds 4 times the energy that the description on this page.
It’s not clear if the 2000mAH is at their battery voltage of 3.7V or the output USB voltage of 5V.
I’ll be generous and assume it’s 5V. That means it contains 10000mWH of energy.
To give you an idea of what that is equivalent to, a AA NiMH (rechargeable) battery (1.2V, 2500mAH) would be 3000mWH.
And there are voltage boost and drop losses associated with the charging dropping that value by 20% or more.
So, it’s got about the capacity of 3 AA batteries.
It might completely charge your device, depending upon the battery size of your device.
[...]
I can’t figure out the dimensions, but I might buy one of these.
I’d stear clear of the “Duracell Pocket UBS Charger” about $21 here on Amazon.
As my review of that product states, the 500mAH capacity is less than a AA battery…

The Amazon description is inaccurate. This is actually a 2000mAh battery. Also, it can be used to charge two devices at the same time. See the Duracell web site, where I got this information. I do not have this device, so my three-star rating is not to be relied on.
