I’d like to spend a few days visiting DC while we’re out visiting relatives out of state, but might be driving in a motorhome. Does anyone know the closest campgrounds near DC so we can sightsee for a few days instead of just one? 1/2 hour away or less would be great. Thanks!

I am going to be a student at Howard University this fall. I have heard that DC is dangerous and though I have been through a few times, I haven’t gone sightseeing or anything. I don’t want to go to an area that is dangerous because i want my college years to be fun.
